“Hi,” Tye said.
“Hi, how’s things?”
“Good. Tired. It was a long but nice weekend.”
“Same,” I would say, then we would talk about other stuff that I won’t share with the world.
On his way home I would ask, “What’s for dinner?”
“I think Deaven is making Salmon tacos.”
“Does she even know you can cook?” We laughed.
Tyler is working more remotely now, so he has no need to go into the office from nine to five. It’s a wonderful opportunity for him, and I am proud. I realized, however, when I was leaving his condo this weekend, that things would be different for me, too.
“I’ll talk to you in the morning,” I said to him as I left.
I then looked at him and we both kind of shrugged with our faces at the realization.
“You still have to call your mom even though you don’t drive to work anymore,” I joked. We all laughed but in reality, I know it won’t be the same.
It also won’t be the same with Sammy. His new office is an hour away, so it’s a matter of time before he decides to move out, and he’s already tempering the mood.
“You should make that room into a bowling lane,” he said, referring to Baylee’s room which is technically the den. (He will move into Sammy’s when it’s time.)
“I’m not doing that,” I said, and he replied with, “It’s about $45K.” Talk about classic diversion.
I do encourage their new moves and am very excited, proud of them, and proud of me, too, but I can’t help but be weary of the family’s change. Cheers to new adventures, more visits, and bowling lanes! Their dad would be so proud.
Forever forward ❤️

Dear Teri,
“Reality” in life can sometimes be a bit overwhelming, especially when it is in regards to your young sons, who have become young adults…
“Independence” for a young man is a “good thing”, and very important for them, as “it” will define their purpose, and direction in life…
Of course, their mom will still be very important to them, after they leave… You will continue to provide them with your own 2-cents worth of wisdom, and of course your love whenever you can, or whenever requested by them, should they need a bit of guidance from time to time…
Love,
Uncle Lee 🙂
