Maybe it’s the weather, or the flying time, or the lack of purchased gifts, or the fact that the decorations are still in the shed, but I’m still waiting, anticipating, being patient for the arrival of the Christmas spirit. My Christmas spirit. I flex my heart and squeeze my eyes shut but it stays away. Hopefully it will find me soon.
Dear Teri,
Sometimes we just have to reach for a bit of “internal force” in order to get into the Christmas Holiday Spirit… (Wait until you reach my age, where I am also known as “Harvey Crank”, when it comes to putting up our Christmas decorations around the house)…
I try my best to get into the spirit of things, by finding, and listening to Christmas music on my truck’s radio… I also try to think of some of the “good things” I might be able to do for “others”, like bringing in a “box of Dunkin Joe coffee, dozen of mixed holiday doughnuts, and a homemade Christmas card to “others”, such as the local Fire Department, Police Department, our automotive service garage, ect, ect…
I try to include Mia & Mario with these quick, short, visits in order to drop “goodies” off for others who are not expecting such things to happen to them… To me, it’s all about watching to see what the kids get, when they find themselves participating in providing this unexpected Christmas holiday “treat” to strangers…
Try “looking through the eyes” of the little kids, and see the excitement upon their faces, this time of the year, and I’m sure you will find that your very own Christmas Spirit will find it’s way into your soul!!!
Love,
Uncle Lee 🙂
